Questions

Everything you should know before applying.

What are the review requirements?

Reviews of advance copies should be at least 5 sentences. We encourage Foresters to include an ARC disclaimer in their reviews, such as “I received a free copy from Winter Forest Press.” The use of generative AI in writing reviews is not allowed. For more, see our terms.

How much reading is involved?

The length of available books will vary; Catalyst of Control is ~150,000 words. Foresters can choose to opt out of reading any book.

How long do I have to read a book?

Typically, Foresters have 1–2 months to read an ARC or beta copy. The deadline for ARCs is the book’s publication day. If needed, you may request a deadline extension.

What if I can’t finish an advance copy?

If you start an ARC but don’t enjoy the book or don’t have time to finish reading it, you can opt out of updates and reminders for that book. You are not required to review a book you haven’t finished.

How are books delivered?

Advance reader copies will be available to Foresters in multiple digital formats, including on our website and as a PDF or EPUB file. Beta readers can read and comment on a draft of the book only on our website, accessible on any device with a browser.

What if I’m not accepted?

You’re welcome to reapply in the future. The main reasons for an application not being accepted include a lack of online presence and a lack of interest in the genres we publish.
